"James", a site about Parkinson's Disease

This web site is about Parkinson's Disease; what it is, where you can get support, what you can do to fight its effects, and how the Internet can help. It is a project of the Adrienne Coles Memorial Trust.

If you are looking for information specifically about Parkinson's, we have a section of information and links to many other sites. We also have an area of more general medical information and a section on the important topic of caring.

Major features of this site are A searchable archive of the PARKINSN list, Brian Collins's Drug Management information & tools, and Helen Rose's book "An old age pensioner at 18". This site is based in the UK, and whilst most of the content is international, we have an area for items of UK interest.

We also host a number of European mailing lists from this site: PARKLISTE (in French - the web site is hosted elsewhere), PDUK (UK issues), NEDERPARK (in Dutch), DEUPARK (in German), and BELGAPARK (for Belgians).

If you want to stay up to date with what's happening in the Parkinson's world, but don't have the time to stay on the mailing lists, we suggest you join PDNEWS, our announcement list. We monitor what's going on and send just a few posts every week to the list.

We link to all the other Parkinson's sites that we know of, as each makes a unique contribution to the Parkinson's Community on the Internet. If we've missed one, please let us know.

The Adrienne Coles Memorial Trust, is a new Charitable Trust setup "...for the development of Parkinson's Disease Information and related material on the Internet", and we hope to bring you news of our activities soon.

As you would expect we have lots of tidbits on The Internet and how it is being used to empower patients. The established Parkinson's Disease organisations and related bodies are starting to make their presence felt, which is encouraging.

We've got some resources we've used for Internet Evangelism, although these are quite old - The Internet has happened, and people rarely need to be convinced now!

We've come across some other interesting sites on the web which we thought we would share. The whole Charity/Non-profit area, as well as technology for disabilities is getting quite interesting as well.

Information on this site has come from a variety of sources, if you have something to contribute please email me. You should read this disclaimer about this site.

In progress: I am working through all the links adding descriptions etc. The first one I have done is items of UK interest and over the coming months I will be working on the other areas. This may well lead to changes in the layout of the site, as descriptions make the pages a lot bigger.
