This section contains links to UK-based web sites, which may be of interest to people with Parkinson's. I've tried to put some brief comments with each entry. Please let me know of any sites you've found that I have missed.

Parkinson's Disease
Brian Collins's work on Drug management
Brian is a Parkinsonian with a good insight into how PD drugs work for people with Parkinsons. As well as writing extensively on the subject, he's also heavily involved in his local PDS branch.

Helen Roses's Book "An Old Age Pensioner at 18"
Helen's book describes her experiences being diagnosed with Parkinson's at 18. Well worth reading. (Also available in print from the PDS.)

The British Council Of Disabled People
"The British Council of Disabled People (BCODP) was set up by disabled people in 1981 to promote our full equality and participation within society. We are an umbrella organisation that represents some 136 disabled people's groups (April 1999) at the national level. These groups, controlled by disabled people, are mostly local Coalitions working on local issues."

Department of Health's National Research Register
The National Research Register (NRR) is a register of ongoing and recently completed research projects funded by the United Kingdom's National Health Service. The first release contains information on over 28,000 research projects, as well as entries from the Medical Research Council's Clinical Trials Register, and details on reviews in progress collected by the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination.

NHSnet IMPACT
NHSnet IMPACT is a group of technically literate and concerned GPs, (and other NHS professionals) who also lead their PCGs working to see NHS networking succeed.

British Medical Journal
Online access to the prestigious medical journal, fully searchable. Generally, these articles are meant for Doctors and other medical professionals, so they will be very technical.

Cyber-Hospital UK - a resource for medical professionals

OMNI: Organising Medical Networked Information
A UK directory of high quality biomedical resources on the Internet. Over 4,000 entries including MEDLINE access. As this is aimed at medical professionals, the sites listed are likely to be technical in nature.

"The Lancet" website
You have to subscribe to the printed version to get full access to this medical journal. Articles aimed at medical professionals.

Dr Alison Lee's personal page
Dr. Lee is a Senior Research Fellow currently involved in an 18-month year grant investigating distortions of perceived space in Parkinson's disease, with Dr John Harris at the Department of Psychology, University of Reading. The project is sponsored by the Parkinson's Disease Society of the United Kingdom.

A search engine aimed at the over 50's. Unfortunately they make you put their logo on your page before they will list you, which isn't something I am prepared to do, so this site isn't listed. I would guess quite a few sites aren't listed for the same reason, so their directory isn't going to be all that comprehensive. What a silly policy.
